Mort and Fawks are ready for their forever family!

These two very, very social kitties still need a family that is available for lots of snuggles. We foster them through RAIN Rescue. They are very social four month old female cats and thrive with company. Mort in particular would be miserable away from people, and will snugly anyone (or anything) that sits still for more then 30 seconds. Fawks is also into snuggles, but is quintessentially cat in her curiosity. So she has to take time out of snuggles to climb in every box, open bag or cubby just to try it out. Both also love to play. They 'hunt' pompoms and toy feathers like little lions! And look very tough doing it, complete with 'kitten roars'. Kind of. Both would do amazing with kids and tolerate not only my loud 3.5 year old, but groups of his friends that come over. I've seen three little squealing girls pet Fawks at once, and she came back for more.

They are very special cats. We have fostered their mom and whole litter. Two siblings adopted, two others waiting to get fixed. They all get along, but these two are definitely bonded and ready to be adopted together. Sorry about the low quality phone photos. I'll get the real camera out and update this soon.

Application to adopt through RAIN is at https://goo.gl/forms/1JS2uSPGM1ShP7QG2

Fawk is little but mighty, and so full of adventure and personality!
Mort is full of love. She has crawled onto my son's lap since she was 4 weeks old. She will stay until the 'hug' gets a little too tight.

Even the tortoise gets snuggles. Wether he wants them or not. (He doesn't.)
Both love to curl up for a bath with their mom, and then look ridiculous all wet.
Fawks loves to 'study' the older cats. She spies on them from different places. She occasionally can't resist pouncing on a swishing tail, but gets the hint with the first bat on the side of the head from her seniors.

Maple's Little Kitties Ready for Adoption

These four of six are ready for new homes. We've known them since they were only a few weeks old and want to tell you a little bit about them.

They are lap cats! They would love a home where they will get a lot of attention. They like snuggles and play and are extremely social. They purr the moment we walk into the room. They are very bonded! We'd love to see them stay in pairs because they seem exceptionally bonded even for litter mates. There are definitely some that are a double act together. Zeezuu and Lupin play hard together! Lupin could sell cat toys professionally because she's never met a toy she didn't like. As I type she is going on hour two of playing with my screaming, jumping, feather toy swinging 3 year old, and it entirely unfazed by his energy, so she'd do great with kids. Zeezuu holds his own in this game too! But he got his name for being the first to explore any new toy or perch or smell. He loves to check things out. He will find the toy, where ever you hide it! Mort and Fawks like to play a lot too, but they are the quieter curious sort of play. Fawks is small but mighty! She uses her skills for good though, and gently greats us with a tap on the face and a lick before going on to conquer the world. Don't let that petite body fool you, she holds her own! Mort is a snugger. They all are, but she excels. It doesn't matter if you are an adult or a loud hyper 3 year old boy, if you sit still, she will sit on your lap. She's nuts about playing with balls though! They all prefer to sleep in a pile still at 4 months, and if we stay still they quickly transfer that pile to being on us trapping us under loud purrs. They will also
frequently bath each other. They are so much like their sweet, soft mama, and very special cats.

It's hard to get a photo of them alone, since they are on your lap within a minute of sitting down, or they wouldn't sit still. Still here are some of our favourite most recent photos. Their made-up best guest birthday is April 13th. We have baby photos from a few weeks and more info on any particular kitty if needed.
Lupin (f) tabby kitty
Zeezee (m) orange kitty
Fawks (f) silver and peach
Mort (f) black and peach and blue eyes
The adult cat with a collar is their amazing sweet Mama that we have decided to adopt and give the spoiled life she so deserves.

It's official! Now lets celebrate with a picnic...

On June 21st we had a perfect sunny day to exchange vows and rings on the beach near our house. We had some big trees on one side of us, snow peaked mountains over the water,  and some of our west coast friends to witness and wish us well! (And a couple of Texans en route to Canada!)

Thanks for all the well wishes and for coming to our picnic in July to celebrate!

Description of the Picnic Celebration

BBQ Diner
We are hosting a seafood BBQ starting at 4pm at the Powell Pavilion. It will be casual. Super casual in fact, but we will have a few people say a few words over pie. The pavilion has tables inside and outside and is fully wheelchair accessible. The park is a ‘dry park’ and visitors are not allowed to bring in alcohol, however we have obtained special permission to serve our guests wine and beer within the pavilion area. Please let us know in your RSVP or by email if anyone in your family has any allergies or special food needs we should discuss with our caterers. We are really looking forward to seeing you all there!

Day at the park
We chose Valens Lake so our friends and family could enjoy the park for a day. We have booked the pavilion for the whole day.The park has a sandy public beach with a swimming area about 200 meters from the pavilion. The reservoir is good for fishing, and the park has a boat launch, a boat rental shop that sells bait and there are areas to fish from land. The park offers about 10km of hiking trails. The staff will set up a volleyball net next to our pavilion and we will have some other picnic-friendly activities available, (ex. frisbees and croquet set), but we also encourage guests to bring other activities if they would like. The pavilion facilities include charcoal BBQs and a very simple kitchenette (microwave and sink) if anyone would like to use them earlier in the day.

Camping
We will be camping in the park on Friday and Saturday night. We have booked a very large group campsite that can accommodate any of our guests that wish to camp (It is big enough for 70 people).  We invite our guests who wish to stay past sunset to camp with us and enjoy a big campfire. We will follow-up with any campers directly about the details, so please indicate in your RSVP or by email latter if you would like to camp.

More information about the park, directions and entrance fees will be posted on this blog.
Please RSVP your attendance by June 30th by sending an email to BrockPincheroPicnic@gmail.com.

Gift Registry:
We have been asked several times about a gift registry. We did not register anywhere because we are not expecting gifts from any of our guests. We are grateful for your participation in the picnic and for coming to wish our new little family well. However, we do not want to make it difficult for anyone who really wishes to give us a gift, so we have thought of a few suggestions for those who are asking. Any of the following:
i) A donation to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) with us in mind. We both have a personal familiarity with MSF and care about their medical and humanitarian work. It's incredibly important. We feel pretty lucky in life, even more lucky now.  So we think any donation made to this organization, smaller or larger but with us in mind, would be a wonderful blessing to our new marriage and new little family. (http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/)
ii) A gift certificate towards REI. We like to enjoy the gorgeous wilds of Washington State and we buy most of our outdoor and camping gear from this co-operative store. Apparently our outdoor activities will have to change with a third and tiny member of the family. (Less dehydrated food, bigger tent...) It seems a great excuse to get new gear. We will put any gift certificate to that store to very good use. (http://www.rei.com/gift-card.html)
iii) A gift certificate for Amazon.com. Currently we are avid Amazon users for house stuff, kitchen stuff, food, clothes, books, etc. We expect that we will may also be using this place for baby-retrofitting the house in the coming months with various things that we currently know nothing about. (We accept advice on baby stuff too!)
iv) Anything that you picked out personally, and which we can take back across the border.
